fluxbox - מבנה קבצים של תיקיית הגדרות ופרדיגמות בקיצורי מקשים - desktop בלי לגעת בעכבר

2008-09-03 meeting

1. Update on Blich's new Asus Eee PC project: it's a hit! Users clamoring...
2. Google Chrome is headlines everywhere. chromium.org, google.com/chrome...
3. V8 is its JS engine, open source, fast, written in C++.
4. So, we just installed it! And it's damn fast! Wow!
5. Clean like only Google can do!

2008-08-27 meeting

Studied GreaseMonkey!

1. http://greasespot.net/
2. Capabilities? Anything JavaScript can do! Hmm...
3. Script installation management
   1. Metadata in JavaScript comments
   2. GreaseFire: automatically finds scripts from userscripts.org (for any site you're browsing)! Neat!
4. "Live editing" of scripts: opens script in external editor; edits copy (?) of script from FF's profile directory?
5. Tutorials: excellent, categorized, highly detailed, with JavaScript examples, explained step by step, links to actual scripts and sites.
6. Can do mashups! Wow! Cf GM_xmlhttpRequest() API. Hmm, security (XSS) vulnerability?
7. http://userscripts.org/ : no categories/tags/whatever... foo? How to use? GreaseFire?
8. Looked at a few scripts: mostly appearance tweaks, "corrections", user preferences, very few mashups.

2008-08-20 meeting

Studied Google Docs and Google Sites...

1. Experimented by creating a site for us -- the Rehovot LUG -- at http://sites.google.com/site/rehovotlug/ . May use your own domain name, too. Owner can create many sites in her account, and delete site (permanently!). 100MB storage.
2. Can share (or not) access or ownership of site, and manage permissions: "invite as owner/collaborator/viewer". Only users with Google accounts can join.
3. Appearance: options for layout, theme, colors, fonts. "Google Sites" always in header and footer. Site description will be used for HTML meta tag (useful for search results?).
4. Can easily create pages, edit them in situ (in place), WYSIWYG, insert anything from Google Docs and a large selection of "widgets": calendar, docs, videos (YouTube), weather, clocks, chat (interactive, in JavaScript), SMS, art (famous drawings?), games, animations, RSS (customized), multiple feeds, maps, quotes, search, Digg, torrent searches, FLOSS projects search...
5. Can "attach" files to site.
6. Advantages: high traffic? Google can handle it.
7. Disadvantages: no Wiki, no forum -- use Google Groups instead?
8. Backups?
9. Looked at Google Apps' demo video: http://google.com/a/ .

2008-08-13 meeting

1. Had in mind hacking stuff, but ended up just yacking. Endlessly. About everything: Web frameworks, Drupal, Django, Google, Apache, the kernel, Firefox, X, Compiz/Beryl, KDE4, cracking the MBTA, Dreambox… I forget. Anyways, lots of fun. (Hope to churn out tangibles next week. ;o)

1. Discussed our new LUG ;o).
2. Looked at Greasemonkey (the Firefox add-on) and contributed scripts. The potential for new applications is intriguing…
3. Looked as Google Docs and Google Sites. Wow. Revolutionary.
4. Discussed Linux proliferation success factors: Xen (eg SliceHost), Firefox, CMSs (Drupal), Ubuntu's success…
