This thread started when Chen Shapira celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Monkey Trial, in which a USA teacher was found guilty for teaching his pupils about Evolution. It started an active ping-pong by Shlomi Fish and Nadav Har'El about whether consciousness evolved at around the year 1000 B.C. (in accordance with Julian Jaynes' Theory of the Bicameral Mind), or is a memeplex that evolved earlier.
In this thread Shlomi Fish asked whether people read the code of other open-source programs. An interesting diversion of the thread was that it was agreed that universities and other courses give too little focus to Reading Code, which is also an important skill.
